Good book but started off a little slow, mostly because of introducing a lot of background information on the main characters. Still, it worked to flesh the characters out for the rest of the book. I read more SciFi than Fantasy usually but I found myself being interested in how the author was introducing, werewolves, bigfoot, elves...etc. They were all fleshed out in a way that I have not seen before, whimsical and humorous at times but mostly just a different take from other authors I have read on the same characters. The book did get to a point where I did not want to put it down because I wanted to see what came next. This does not happen with every book I read, so I was impressed that it caught my interest and kept it until the end. He left it open for a sequel but still managed to tie up things rather nicely. Be sure and get the updated copy, the typos in the first copy were a little distracting, but I am glad I stayed with it anyway. Very worth the read and will definitely give the next book a try!Product details

Excellent start for a first time writer! Great development of characters. Once I got started I could not put it down! I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next book....hopefully soon!
Great story line, great setting. Well thought out characters. Hoping there are future novels in this series. Highly recommended for a good read.
This was a great first book and I'm looking forward to seeing what Mr. Raif can come up with next. The plot was fast paced, the characters were down-to-earth (well mostly), and his take on the fantasy world was refreshing. I will by the sequel and I'm absolutely comfortable recommending this book to others. Good Job Brian!!
This book kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. Almost made me want to look more closely at the world around me.
The story is great I can't wait to see where it goes. I especially like the world the writer is building.
When I first read Knight of the Silver Sword I was instantly drawn in by the descriptive language and visuals of East Texas. The character William Codex was easy to hear as I read each line. He was a realistic enough that I wanted to finish the book with him safe and sound. The ending was the best!
I bought this book for my on the recommendation of a young friend. I have to say first that I enjoyed the rich detail and great story line! I want to and will buy and read the rest of the series. My suggestion (and I mean this most kindly) is that this book could benefit greatly by employing a professional editor to make it a smoother read. From time to time, I found myself stopping to try to figure out what the author was trying to say. I would have given the book that fifth star if I had been able to read it with less effort. I had the feeling that this book was dictated to a computer program which converts speech to writing and that, in itself, could explain some of the idiosyncrasies I noticed. Even so, I love the book and hope to encourage the author to keep on writing--he has a wonderfully creative mind!
